Welcome to my new blog! I read a lot of runnings blogs and I’ve been considering starting one for what seems like ages, so now I’ve finally got my act together and done it.
I thought I’d start off by introducing myself. I’m Paul, I’m 50 years old and I live in Maidstone, Kent (in the South East of the UK if you’re not familiar with it). I started running way back in 1983, and I’ve been running pretty much ever since, mainly road and cross country, but also a 5 year spell of doing triathlons as well. I’ve been a proud member of my local club Maidstone Harriers since 1996, and I’ve made a load of great friends and had some fun times, it’s a fantastic club to belong to.
Most of my running has been focused around the 10k/10m/half-marathon distances, but in the last few years I’ve done more marathons than I had previously, and of course I’ve become a semi-regular at my two local Parkruns, with the magic 50 runs total not too far away now.
You won’t find me anywhere near the front of races, I was reasonably fast a few years back (think 20 years back, and 20 pounds lighter!) but these days I just enjoy getting out there and giving it my best shot, if I put in a decent performance then I’m happy, if not, well, there’s always the next time. I just want to enjoy my running now, so I’m hoping I can share some of that enjoyment (and some of my experience) through this blog.
That’s all for now, look out for my first proper post soon!
